Two tragic accidents inside the galleries in Bulqiza
One miner lost his life depths of the mine. Another injured the lower part of his body
On the evening of September 19th, the body of the miner Muharrem Plaku was found dead in the depths of the mine, who had been trapped for five days after an accident. Five anxious days for Muharrem's life ended in the most dramatic way possible for his family and relatives, but also for fellow miners who were working tirelessly in the hope of finding him alive.
We express our sincere condolences to the family of Muharrem! We ask the state institutions to bring those responsible for the accident and take measures for the safety conditions at work on an ongoing basis!
Another accident on the 30th of September in Bulqiza. A 55-year-old miner, Astrit Çupi, working for Albchrome, injured the lower part of his body and was sent to the emergency room in the hospital of Bulqizë.
This is one of the many accidents that have occurred only this year in the mine administered by Albchrome, the biggest in Bulqiza and in the country, in which another miner lost his life in May.
Instead of accusing the miners of the accidents and deaths inside the mines, the Albanian state must hold accountable those who are responsible for these repeated events. It must intervene immediately in order to ensure safe and secure conditions for the miners.
Emigration to the district of Dibra where it participates and Bulqiza has deepened significantly in recent years, as an attempt to escape misery. Only in 2020, although in a pandemic situation with closed borders, they left according to INSTAT 2,6 % of the population. As the inhabitants of Bulqiza show, a comprehensive wave is feeling in the country, where young people look at rescue abroad, and parents are forced to agree with the pain of having children away, in the face of the cobs alternative to their loss in mines.
The life of miners comes before the profit of the masters and the corruption of politicians!
